Quests

Perhaps one of the greatest aspects of RuneScape is the variety of quests it offers. Quests are essentially storylines or tasks which can be completed for a reward such as experience, money, items, or access to new areas in the game. Generally, quests in RuneScape consist of gathering materials, delivering items, fighting monsters, escorting NPCs to safety, and solving puzzles to complete a goal. The start point of each quest is marked on the in-game map with a Quest icon () resembling a blue star.

Some quests are part of a quest series or chain, and each quest in the series builds upon the ongoing storyline. Usually in these types of quests, the completion of the previous quest in the series is a prerequisite to beginning the following quest.

Quest Points

Every quest rewards the player with a certain number of Quest Points upon completion. Quest Points have several uses in RuneScape. First, some guilds will not grant access to players unless they meet a minimum number of Quest Points. Likewise, some quests require players to have at least a minimum number of points before the quest can be started. Also, once players have completed every quest in the game, they will have the ability to wear the Quest Cape of Accomplishment.
